Who is Prince Kaybee ?
Kabelo Motsamai popularly known as Prince Kaybee is a South African Multi-award winning house music producer and DJ. He rose to fame as the winner of the 2nd season of SABC 1 Master of Spin competition ( 1’s and 2’s ).
Kabelo was born in Senekal in the Free State. He dropped out of school in Grade 11, and made his way to Bloemfontein where he ended up getting a club DJ gig.
Life before Music
Before Prince Kaybee became an award winning artist , He had a very promising soccer career. He was a player in the development league of a professional soccer club , Bloemfontein Celtics. However his dreams were cut short when he suffered a knee injury that had him on the bench for almost two years.
Kabelo grew up listening to African classic & traditional jazz from his late father ‘s collection , because of that influence he fell in love with that sound .
Winning the SABC 1 ‘s Master of Spin DJ Competition
In 2015 he entered the SABC 1 ‘s DJing & Producing battle show Masters of Spin. The Competition has contestants from all over the country that are put through their paces in the hope of becoming South Africa’s next superstar DJ or electronic music producer. He won the competition, launching his career in the south African music scene.
Releasing his debut Single ‘Better Days’
After the competition , he released his debut single ‘Better Days’. Better days became very big and cemented prince kaybee ‘s place in the hearts of many south african music lovers. It also went on to reach 11 times platinum selling status.
Then he came back with Wajellwa and it made Kaybee one of the biggest Djs and House Music producers in the Country.
He owned the whole of 2018 with the release of his singles ‘Club Controller‘ and Banomoya. In 2019 He released his album ‘Re Mmino’ which sold Gold in less than a
month and featured hit single Fetch your life , Gugulethu and more.
