Who is Okmalumkoolkat?

Okmalumkoolkat, born Smiso Zwane is a South African Hip Hop song writer, producer, fashion guru and performer. Smiso Zwane was born in Umlazi, one of the famous section of Durban.

Growing Up

Okmalumkoolkat studied at Vega School Of Communication and upon graduating he relocated to Johannesburg. He met with Dokta SpiZee and together they formed a group called Dirty Paraffin. They worked on several projects but later the house they were residing in was cleaned out so as a result Smiso Zwane was forced to look for a 9 to 5 type of job. He used his college skills to bag freelancing jobs with big corporate entities, one of the companies was NIKE.

His rise to Fame

In 2014 Okmalumkoolkat featured in two big singles, Gusheshe and Amantombazane released by Cassper Nyovest and Riky Rick respectively. The latter went on to release the Amantombazane remix which also featured Okmalumkoolkat. Smiso Zwane used the momentum gained from these two singles and went on to release his 1st body of work, Holy Oxygen EP. In 2016 Okmalumkoolkat released his 1st debut album, Mlazi Milano. The project had smash hits such as “Gqi” and Ntwana Yam.
