Who is DJ Shimza

Ashley Raphala , Famously known by his stage name DJ Shimza , is a House DJ , Music producer and Event Promoter. Shimza was born and raised in Tembisa , Ekurhuleni.

Where DJ Shimza ‘s Career started

Raphala ‘s passion for music goes as far back as 2003 , which was the time he started learning how to DJ . In 2006 he entered the Red Square DJ competition which he went on to win.He also won the DJ Spin off competition at the South African Music conference.

His big break was when he got the opportunity to be part of YFM ‘s YTKO team , He was playing a set every Friday at 6pm. The show began to expose his talent a wider audience and he started gaining more fans and getting more gigs.

DJ Shimza also started his annual one man show , a music festival that happens every year on the 25^th December. Through this show he gives back to his community by donating food and school shoes to the less fortunate.

Signing to Soulstic Music

Around 2013, Shimza was signed to Black Coffee ‘s Soulistic Music record label. Through the label he was promoted international. and it was not long until he started touring the world with Black Coffee and played at some of the biggest music festivals. He later released his debut album Shimuz.

He also collaborated with Dr malinga to give us the hit single Akulalwa , that was one of the biggest songs when it came out .

Shimza also went on to hold different international DJ residencies at different clubs such as Djoon , Club privilege in Ibiza and more.

The Tembisa Born DJ continues to grow his brand through pushing boundaries and always pushing his talent to the next level.
