Born Refiloe MaelePhoolo on 16 December 1990 in a Mafikeng village called Montshiwa, CassperNyovest love for performing before crowds developed at an early age in primary school where he’d always fight to be on every single play and show. Inspired by his late brother “KhotsoMotebangPhoolo” who was a rapper but sadly passed on in 2003, Cassper decided to take on the music world and hasn’t looked back since.
In 2008 at age 17 Cassper got a record deal with “Impact Sounds”, arguably the strongest Motswako label at the time with artists like TuksSenganga& Morafe. After committing 2 full years of his career without signs of his album dropping he decided to part ways with the label to start his own label “Press Play Music”.  HipHop Pantsula featured Cassper on his album Dumela joint ‘WamtsebaMtho’, heavily contributing to his respect by the game as a Motswako artist. HHP’s “WamTsebaMtour” put him at stages across South Africa. Working with Jabba has boosted Cassper’s young music career to amazing levels, performing all over South Africa multiple times, and crossing over to international shows in Botswana, Ghana, Lesotho, Namibia, and Mozambique. He also toured with HHP and Tuks to UK in December 2011 performing in Camden, London and Milton Keyes.
This year, CassperNyovest teamed up with OkMalumKoolKat to produce one of the best South African rap tracks of the year, “Gusheshe”. “Gusheshe” has also given CassperNyovest nominations for the upcoming SA Hip Hop Awards in the categories: “Best Video”, “Best Collaboration”, “Song of The Year” and “Best Freshman”.

“Maftown Heights has grown into one of the must-attend social and cultural music events of the year, not only because it showcases the best of Maftown artists but because it has also embraced other musicians from far and wide in Africa who’ve so showed kinship and made award-winning collaborations with various Motswako movement artists. It’s not a secluded event where it’s an “Us vsThem” situation. By incorporating other hip hop artists at this fun festival, the organisers have proved that there’s still room for the Motswako movement to grow even bigger and stronger”- Mokgadi Seabi, Associate Editor, Grazia Magazine

“Maftown Heights has become a showcase for Hip Hop artists to produce their best performances! It’s the platform for Hip Hop artists to Turn-Up, if you’re on Fire, and drop your ish, to an audience which supports Hip Hop across the board… I dig the event and look forward to shutting it down in 2013!” – Da L.E.S

“Maftown Heights celebrates one of the biggest proudly South African genres and sub cultures of hip hop! There’s no way I can’t be excited to be a part of it!” – Reason

“Maftown Heights is everything that’s great about South African music – collaboration, pride in our different cultures and the amazing results we witness when we support local music” – Sihle Bolani, Director Angel Dust Management

“Maftown Heights is one of the best music events that I have attended. A sheer musical thrill, performance after performance. It’s amazing to be so close and in the presence of such exceptionally talented performers. Maftown Heights is an event that you don’t want to miss. Ever!” – Rhode Marshall, Mail & Guardian

“Maftown Heights is always a very special night on the calendar. Besides being a celebration of SA Hip Hop and how far Motswako music has come, it is also a good way to judge ones progress. I have very special memories of Maftown Heights and I look forward to enjoying the evening” – AKA

“Maftown Heights is a celebration of South African hip hop music. Last year, 2012 edition…I arrived at the venue roundabout 8pm. Parking lot was already packed full of cars. We squeezed in somehow. I jumped out the car and took a walk to the main entrance to meet with Motswakolistas. I found there more than 1000 people with money in hand but no ticket available. Some of them where friends who have being a support structure of Motswako republic for over a decade. I realised that Maftown Heights is a festival performance, hip hop night of the year!” – Mo Molemi

Artist/DJ: Sdunkero Vs Cyber Ft. Slim Od
Single Title: Stolen Property
Genre: House
Year of Release: 2013

Mpumalanga music chef, DJ Sdunkero alongside Cyber is back with an up-to-date rocking single ‘Stolen Property’ that features vocal contribution of Slim Od.
Even though Cyber and Slim Od are not known in the national music stage, the two have some convincing musical skills. The beats are specifically prepared with party people in mind – a club-banger of note.
After many attempts to push his name back to the mainstream scene, ‘Stolen Property’ might be what Sdunkero needed all along.
Simple yet on point, ‘Stolen Property’ borrows some lyrical flow from the Durban boys. By just listening to the tune, it is that simple to note that Sdunkero wanted to be relevant to the current house music setup and market.
The only thing though, songs of this nature need a catchy sing-along chorus, which is something missing here. Nevertheless, ‘Stolen Property’ is a Festive-banging tune!
The music video for the tune is also something to take note of. Check the video below. Sdunkero is back boys and girls.

The management team of musician Khuli Chana notes with bemusement that the police are preparing to lay charges of attempted murder against him relating to last Monday’s incident. Other media have indicated that these charges have already been laid.
For the record, Khuli is innocent of any crime and is the victim in this matter. It is indeed sad that the SAPS have sought to paint him as a perpetrator who was the author of his own misfortune. It is indisputable that he was shot at seven times and that he committed no crime. Yet for the past week we have been fielding queries on baseless and disparaging claims that sought to besmirch his reputation, and in a clear attempt to cover-up the ineptitude of others.
On the morning in question he was not speeding when exiting the garage and neither was he flagged down. We believe that, following the various probes into the matter, Khuli will be vindicated despite these attempts to disparage his name and reputation.
His lawyer, Cliff Alexander, says: “Whether or not Khuli was or wasn’t flagged down by unknown people still does not justify the SAPS having fired shots at him. They have certainly exceeded the bounds as contained in section 49 of the Criminal Procedure Act”.
Khuli is currently recuperating following his harrowing ordeal. He says the incident has irrevocably changed his life but he has full faith in the South African justice system which he knows will both protect and exonerate him.
He says: “All that went through my mind when I realised I was being shot at was who was going to raise my 3-month-old daughter? In that moment I really thought that I was going to die. I am currently still receiving medical treatment and have begun going for trauma counseling. I realise the need to get better, pick up the pieces of my life, recover from this traumatic ordeal and move on. On a positive note it’s made me appreciate life and family and drawn me closer to God.”
