THE countdown to this year’s MTV Africa Music Awards has kicked off.
There is a rumour that one of the Kardashian sisters, Khloe, will be in South Africa for the event. A source said she will be accompanied by her new boyfriend, rapper French Montana.
He will perform at the awards ceremony which will be held at the Durban International Convention Centre on Saturday night. Khloe was last in Mzansi in 2010 when she visited with her sisters Kim and Kourtney.
According to the source, Khloe might be recording an episode of her reality show on African soil so that the world can witness her experience here. Montana will be joined on stage by African acts Sauti Sol from Kenya, Nigeria’s Dr SID, Sarkodie from Ghana, Mzansi’s The Arrows and Khuli Chana.
Other international and local acts include Miguel, Trey Songz, Davido, Uhuru, Mafikizolo, Oskido, Professor, Tiwa Savage, Flavour, Diamond, Wizkid, Phyno and Yuri da Cunha. The event promises to be a stunning celebration of music, youth culture and lifestyle.
Tickets are still available from Computicket for between R200 and R450.
The awards will be broadcast live on MTV Base (DStv channel 322) and MTV (DStv channel 130) at 9pm on Saturday.
