The Afro pop award winning group, Afro Soul is excited to feature maskandi legend,Phuzekhemisi in their song, My Darling.
The group is in the studio putting the final touches to their fourth album expected to be released at the end of the month.
Group member Sabelo Ngema said: “We’re overwhelmed with joy. Phuzekhemisi is an icon and the ambassador of traditional music. He added the spark in our music. When we approached him we thought he’d give us a hard time. Instead he welcomed us and never even asked for money.”
Phuzekhemisi, born Zibokwakhe Mnyandu, said: “It’s always exciting to be featured by young artists because I feel refreshed. This is my way of giving back to the youth and I don’t expect money from them.
“They do music differently and I also learn a lot from them. Young artists revive me as an artist.”
The single called, Ndipe from this album was released in February and it is doing well.
Afro Soul also features African artists such as Kudzie from Zimbabwe and Junior Moshoeshoe from Mozambique.
The album has 15 tracks and the the song Thandeka is dedicated to the first lady of the group who died early this year.
